Alumni may apply to convert LL.B. parchments to J.D. parchments

If you hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Victoria, you may apply to change the name of your degree to Juris Doctor (J.D.) by converting your LL.B. degree parchment to a J.D. degree parchment.

Applications for replacement parchments are handled by the Office of the Registrar and there is a fee for this service. The Registrar has posted an application form on its website at http://www.registrar.uvic.ca/undergrad/convocation/convocation.html (under the "Replacement Degree" heading).

The J.D. designation was implemented at UVic Law in the 2010-11 academic year. Students who convocated in November 2010 were the first UVic Law graduates to receive J.D. degrees instead of LL.B. degrees.
